Biography

Warbeast Remains is a band founded in 2008 with the intent of creating old-school death metal. But as time went by, more and more styles got involved in the expanding mix of genres. Warbeast Remains is not a band that likes to stick to one thing and then keep on with making the same stuff over and over again. Though you don't have to expect an experimental jazz album either.

History

Although we haven't been around for ages, there's a lot we can tell here. We'll start at the beginning.

The Warbeast Days

Line-up: Ath(Bass/Lead Vocals), Bart(Rhythm guitar/Backing Vocals), Obin(Lead Guitar), Sam(Drums)

In 2008 Ath, Bart, Obin and Sam met at a party. Ath & Obin were looking for a drummer and a guitarist and Bart & Sam were looking for a bassist and another guitarist. So that's where it all began. A few days later we found a suiting name "Warbeast" and the first songs were written. When Ath decided he could no longer do the vocals we found someone who could replace him as a lead vocal. Enter Kevin.

After a series of shows and happy crowds, we decided to record a demo in mid-2009. For this demo we needed a title track, and due to poor planning, we needed one fast. The result of this haste is the track "Death Metal Thrashers", wich, despite of it's succes live, is now on the blacklist of our live-tracks.
A few months later, some personal issues forced Ath to leave the band. So we had to look for a new bassist. Almost 24 hours later our search already ended, a good chap from Heist-op-den-berg came to the play and we gave him a place in our setting.
Late 2009 Line-up: Kristof(Bass), Bart(Rhythm guitar/Backing Vocals), Obin(Lead Guitar), Sam(Drums), Kevin(Lead Vocals)

With this line-up we did a couple of awesome shows, wrote some kick-ass songs. And planned the recording of our first full-CD Stronghold. But again, shit was up. After a series of conflicts between band members Bart decided to leave the crew and start a new band on his own. This gave the band an awkward situation, because the departure of bart was just a few weeks before the recordings of the Stronghold album were to begin, without a rythm guitarist or backing vocal in the end. All guitar parts thus were played by Robin(Obin) and backing vocals were done by our friend Lowie (from the Band Demolished), who came to help us out.

And so the tale went on for a while, finding a new guitarist wasn't the easiest quest on the planet. With this we end our first chapter, and enter the second.

Warbeast MMVIII?

Yes. We were on the verge of releasing our first album through Shiver Records when our label came with the news: "Hey guys, there's already a band in America called Warbeast. Maybe you should first contact them and see if everything is allright with you guys having the same name?" As said, we contacted them and the shitstorm began. Since we actually were the first ones to claim the name "Warbeast" the American band pointed out that it didn't matter, since they already brought out an album with the Warbeast name on it through their label. But they contacted the label to ask if it was ok. A B52 plane full of american copy-right and legal shit came next and dropped it's load on our heads, wich gave us about a week to find a new name. Since we had a fresh batch of tshirts and artwork with our "Warbeast" logo on it, so we wanted no major changes so we could still use our merch. We came up with adding "MMVIII" (2008) at the end of our name, stating the year we were founded. Everyone was fond of the idea and it had a nice look to it, so everything went ok. Not forgetting we were still looking for a new guitarist, we went on with our search. After a while we found a more than decent replacement for Bart, Bert. Seeing as only 1 letter would change, our plan was bulletproof.

With this line-up we again had some very nice gigs, one of wich being the Graspop Metal Meeting festival. But on that same festival Bert decided to do some stuff that wasn't to the liking of our dear Sam. And so, again, we were out of rhythm guitarists and the quest started all over. After a long period of despair and searching we found Güdrün, who had been on stage with us before, but in a different band.

Warbeast Remains

"What? A new chapter already?" Ofcourse, what did you expect?
Seeing as the roman numerals led a lot of people into confusion, we were getting sick of explaining the name over and over again. So we decided to change the name for one last time to something that would stick. This time we went for something more symbolic "Warbeast Remains". This name would state that Warbeast would always remain the Warbeast it was in the beginning, a few chaps who enjoy making music in their spare time and enjoy it even more to bring it live to the people. Warbeast remains warbeast, Warbeast Remains. (Beautiful isn't it?) Back to the story.
With this line-up we went to London to record our new EP Dehumanize, wich was an iconic experience for the band in multiple ways. This line-up seemed to work nicely, finally.

Nope. After some heavy discussions the band decided it would be able to function better with one major change. This resulted with the leaving of Kristof. The search after a new bassist wasn't exactly what you'd call hard. A few days later our old bassist came a knockin' and promised to be a good boy. Welcome back Ath.
Mid 2012 line-up: Ath(Bass), Obin(Lead Guitar), Sam(Drums), Kevin(Lead Vocals), Güdrün (Rhythm Guitar)

Also this line-up went on for a period of time. But due to a new shitstorm, our drummer decided it would be better if he left.

Then we started auditioning like crazy, and one guy stood out. Welcome to the story Niel.
